In Honor of Mother's Day: to my Sweet Pea

To my Sweet Pea:

I’m so glad I get the privilege of being your mama! In some ways, I feel like we’re still in the “honeymoon” phase. (or maybe just exiting it!) At seven months old, you are just starting to develop more opinions of your own. Up until now, you’ve been content to hang out where the rest of the family is, laying on the floor. You haven’t minded the carset, being handed off to someone else, or being left by yourself when I’ve had to chase your sister yet again. You’ve happily tried most of the baby food I’ve given you, and you share your sweet smiles with me all day long. You love to snuggle, but you also love to kick and show off your ability to stand (with help of course). You teach me things like the importance of just being. Not always being busy, but sometimes just being. Sitting and nursing you in the night reminds me to take time to pray. Seeing your sweet smiles reminds me to bestow mine upon others as well. And your ability to lay on the floor watching the rest of us reminds me to be content.
Our days of butting heads are probably closer than I’d like to think, but for now, thanks for all you are teaching me in a gentle way. I’m so glad God chose me to be your Mama.

Love, Mama
